parramatta artists studios granville

A solid concrete council-owned two storey building that had been a trade union headquarters was converted into the new Parramatta Artists Studios.

Most of what existed was kept for environmental reasons, as the building only had a life expectancy of 4 years and due to a very tight budget. Most was spent on compliance with minimal flamboyance (such as the bright exterior colour) to signify that this is a building of creative production.

Fourteen studios were provided, the largest of which was a First Nations studio.

A boardroom was also used for presentations, lectures and workshops.
